Sokoto, Nigeria – The Kogunan Sokoto, Dr. Nasir Danladi Bako, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for embracing the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on reconciliation, urging Nigerians to foster social harmony and peaceful coexistence.
According to the Personal Assistant to the Kogunan Sokoto, Ibrahim Sani said Dr. Danladi Bako, OON made the remarks while hosting an amalgamation of Muslim student groups from tertiary institutions for an Iftar gathering at his Sokoto residence.
Citing a Hadith from Tirmidhi, he emphasized the Prophet’s saying that “one thing greater than charity is reconciling between people,” warning that discord erodes one’s faith.
He urged Nigerian youths to emulate President Tinubu, who recently extended reconciliatory gestures to former President General Ibrahim Babangida and key figures from the June 12 era.
Dr. Bako also highlighted Tinubu’s invitation to Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) elders for a Ramadan fast-breaking at the Presidential Villa, describing it as a statesmanlike move that underscores his role as a father of the nation.
The Kogunan Sokoto further appealed for reconciliation among political rivals in Rivers State and called on Muslims nationwide to intensify prayers for the country and their families as Ramadan enters its second ten-day phase.
