The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the death of former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Parradang, who was found lifeless in a hotel room in Abuja.
In a statement on Tuesday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, debunked initial reports claiming that Parradang was kidnapped and murdered, stating that he was discovered dead in his hotel room hours after checking in with a female guest.
According to the statement, Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, on March 3, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m., driving a black Mercedes Benz. He paid N22,000 for a one-night stay and was later joined by a female visitor, who left the premises around 4:00 p.m.
Concerns arose when the former CG failed to exit his room after his guest’s departure. Around 4:00 a.m. on March 4, a military officer and close friend, worried about his whereabouts, traced him to the hotel. Upon arrival, hotel staff and the officer entered the room and found Parradang seated in a chair, unresponsive.
The Durumi Police Station was alerted, and officers secured the scene, documented evidence, and transferred his body to the National Hospital for further examination.
Addressing speculation surrounding the incident, Adeh urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims, emphasizing that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
Parradang, who served in the NIS for over 30 years, held various positions across the country before rising to the rank of Comptroller General.
Authorities have assured that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
