NFF President Gusau, NSC Chairman Dikko Inspect Site for Proposed National Teams Hotel in Abuja

Abuja, Nigeria – The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, MON, on Wednesday led the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, on an inspection tour of the proposed site for the NFF National Teams Hotel and a new training pitch PeakNews Online reports.

The site is strategically located adjacent to the NFF Headquarters within the MKO Abiola National Stadium complex in Abuja.

The ambitious project, which includes plans for a state-of-the-art accommodation facility tailored specifically for Nigeria’s national football teams, is a flagship initiative of the Gusau-led administration.

Since assuming office 28 months ago, President Gusau has prioritized this project with the goal of alleviating the substantial costs currently incurred by the NFF in housing national teams during camps and competitions.

By significantly reducing accommodation expenses, the NFF aims to redirect financial resources towards more critical areas such as talent development, grassroots football programs, and the enhancement of football infrastructure nationwide.

During the site visit, Gusau and Dikko conducted a comprehensive evaluation of key factors including accessibility for players and staff, security provisions, and the site’s proximity to existing training facilities. Their discussions also covered the project’s timeline, budgetary requirements, and opportunities for partnerships with private investors and corporate entities interested in supporting Nigerian football’s growth.

Accompanying the NFF President and NSC Chairman were top NFF officials, including General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, Technical Director Coach Augustine Eguavoen, and key aides to the NSC Chairman such as former NFF General Secretary Barr. Musa Amadu and Mallam Salihu Abubakar.

The NFF National Teams Hotel project aligns with the NSC’s broader mission to promote and enhance sports development across Nigeria. As the apex regulatory body for sports in the country, the NSC remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen Nigeria’s sporting landscape and improve the welfare of its athletes.
