The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has extended warm congratulations to Shehu Dikko as the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
Gusau expressed confidence that Dikko’s extensive experience in football administration would help him excel in his new role.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced Dikko’s appointment on Wednesday, marking a significant restructuring that replaces the Federal Ministry of Sports Development with the reintroduced NSC. Dikko, who has a strong background in sports management, served as the Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Football League (now Nigeria Premier Football League) for nearly eight years and was also the second Vice President of the NFF.
In a statement, Gusau praised Dikko’s expertise, stating, “On behalf of the NFF and the entire Nigeria football fraternity, I warmly and heartily congratulate Mallam Shehu Dikko on this huge national assignment. I have no doubt that he has the knowledge, skill, experience, steadfastness, temperament, diligence, and intelligence to make a success of the National Sports Commission.”
Gusau highlighted their close working relationship, noting that they served together on the NFF Board for almost eight years. “He is a man full of meaningful and positive ideas, and the Nigeria Football Federation will surely work together with him to take our football to new heights of excellence,” he added.
Dikko’s resume includes chairing several committees within the NFF, particularly in marketing and sponsorship. He also held a position on the CAF Inter-Clubs Committee and remains an active member of the FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee.
