Liverpool’s Egyptian superstar, Mohamed Salah, has suggested that the 2024-25 season may be his last with the club, as he enters the final year of his contract.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Salah expressed his thoughts on the upcoming season, saying, “Honestly, I had a good summer. I had a long time to stay with myself, try to think positive because, as you know, it’s my last year at the club. I just want to enjoy it, I don’t want to think about it but I feel free to play football, we will see next year.”
Salah, who signed his latest contract extension in 2022, remains focused on the present. The 32-year-old told reporters, “I don’t want to think about the future,” as he works toward personal milestones, including moving closer to Ian Rush’s record 346 goals for the club.
Currently sitting fifth on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list with 214 goals, Salah also has ambitions to break into the Premier League’s top five scorers.
Despite significant interest from the Saudi Pro League, Salah appears committed to staying in England. According to the *Liverpool Echo*, the forward is settled with his family and is willing to turn down lucrative offers from the Middle East, as long as a new deal can be agreed at Anfield. Salah is currently earning £350,000-a-week under his existing contract.
A source also noted Salah’s determination not to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Sadio Mané, who has struggled since moving to Saudi Arabia. “Salah doesn’t want to be like Sadio in Saudi Arabia. Even if it means more money,” the source told the Echo.
For now, Salah’s focus remains on extending his eight-year association with Liverpool and continuing his success in the Premier League.
