The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by Muritala Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the 2023 Kogi State governorship election.
Ajaka had challenged the victory of Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The apex court’s five-member panel delivered a unanimous ruling on Friday, affirming Ododo’s election as the legitimate governor of Kogi State. The court refused to annul the results, as requested by Ajaka.
This ruling brings closure to the legal battle over the Kogi State governorship election, which took place on November 11, 2023.
