Olowokeree Invites 35 Players for FIFA U17 World Cup Preparations

Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has announced the invitation of 35 players to the training camp of Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos.

This marks the commencement of the first phase of final preparations ahead of the 8th FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in the Dominican Republic later this year.

The Flamingos demonstrated their prowess in the qualifying rounds, scoring an impressive 25 goals across six matches. They secured dominant victories over the Central African Republic with back-to-back 6-0 wins, defeated Burkina Faso 7-1 on aggregate in the third round, and overcame Liberia 6-1 on aggregate in the final round.

Among the invitees is star striker Harmony Chidi, who set a remarkable record by netting 13 goals during the qualifying series. She is joined by her strike partner, Peace Effiong, team captain Taiwo Afolabi, goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, and defender Prisca Nwachukwu, all of whom play pivotal roles in the team’s lineup.

The 8th edition of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Santiago de los Caballeros and Santo Domingo from October 16 to November 3.
