In what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated showdowns in recent UFC history, former champions Henry Cejudo and Kamaru Usman are at odds over their predictions for UFC 305.
This weekend, middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis will defend his title against former titleholder Israel Adesanya in a matchup that has the MMA community sharply divided.
As tensions build, Kamaru Usman took to the official Pound-4-Pound YouTube channel to break down the main card. Unsurprisingly, the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ threw his support behind Adesanya, predicting that the former champion will reclaim his title.
“Styles make fights, and I believe this matchup favors Israel Adesanya more than someone like Sean Strickland,” Usman explained. “Israel excels at movement, fakes, and strategic striking, whether it’s kicks to the legs or body. He’s a master on the feet.”
Usman acknowledged Du Plessis’s wrestling ability, noting that the South African champion might look to take the fight to the ground. However, Usman emphasized Adesanya’s resilience, pointing out that the former champion has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to get back on his feet after being taken down.
If Adesanya manages to secure the victory, he would become the first three-time middleweight champion in UFC history, an achievement made even more impressive given the caliber of opponents he has defeated. Usman is confident in Adesanya’s chances.
“Israel is battle-tested and has overcome heavy hitters before. On paper, it might look like Du Plessis has the upper hand, but a healthy and motivated Israel Adesanya, in my opinion, will get the job done 100%,” Usman concluded.
As the fight draws closer, the UFC world remains on edge, eagerly awaiting the outcome of what promises to be an unforgettable clash.
