Four confirmed dead, six missing in Kano boat accident

 

Kano, August 22, 2024 – Four passengers have been confirmed dead, and six others are missing following a boat accident in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Kano State Fire Service spokesperson, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident during a chat with Daily Sun, revealing that the boat was carrying 14 passengers when the accident occurred. He noted that search and rescue efforts, involving local divers and other stakeholders, are ongoing to locate the missing passengers.

Abdullahi acknowledged that the details surrounding the accident remain unclear, stating that the service was alerted by Aminu Garko, the councillor of Kauran Mata Ward. Further information is being awaited as investigations continue.

The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and handed over to their families, who have since buried them in accordance with Islamic rites.

Search efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining missing passengers.
