In a significant show of support for democratic values, the Council of State, convened by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, commended Nigerians for their resistance against attempts to effect an unconstitutional change of government during the #EndBadGovernance protests. The council also passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu.
The meeting, held at the State House Council Chambers, saw the attendance of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, as well as other notable figures. Former Heads of State General Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar participated virtually, alongside governors from Abia, Adamawa, and Akwa Ibom States.
Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals, briefed State House Correspondents following the meeting. He outlined that seven ministers and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu were invited to present updates on the administration’s roadmaps, prospects, and challenges. The council also focused on the crucial issue of economic diversification.
The National Security Adviser provided a comprehensive briefing on the #EndBadGovernance protests, covering the events before, during, and after the demonstrations.
