Anambra State Commissioner for Youths Development, Patrick Aghamba, and his wife were kidnapped on Friday while traveling to Abuja, a government source confirmed. Tragically, the commissioner’s aide, ABK Offiah, was killed during the incident.
The couple was reportedly on their way to attend the wedding of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s daughter, Adaora, scheduled for Saturday. The exact location of the kidnapping remains unknown, but it is believed to have occurred in Edo State.
A top government official expressed concern over the situation, stating that no one has contacted the family or the state government regarding the commissioner’s whereabouts. The circumstances surrounding the commissioner’s decision to travel by road instead of air are unclear.
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched a full-scale investigation. Spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga stated that the command is working closely with security agencies in Edo State to rescue the commissioner and his wife. The police have also deployed additional personnel to protect key government officials in the state
