Abuja, Nigeria – In anticipation of a nationwide protest, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has deployed 4,200 officers across Abuja to ensure security and maintain order.
In a statement released on Friday, FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed the deployment, which includes explosive ordinance device experts stationed at strategic locations. The measures aim to ensure public safety, protect protesters, and prevent any attempts to hijack the protests by non-state actors.
Adeh also mentioned that the command will conduct raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings, and shanties. In addition, there will be stop and search operations in collaboration with other security agencies to enhance security.
