
Ibadan, Oyo State – The Nigeria Squash Federation on Monday released the fixtures for the inaugural Nigeria Top 8 Female Invitational Squash Tournament which begins Tuesday at the prestigious Ibadan Recreation Club.
According to the fixtures, players have been divided into two groups with the first game billed for 4:00 pm between Abdulazeez Rofiat facing Veronica Sunday while Delight Allison takes on Mistura Durosinlorun at 5:00pm in Pool A.
The third match of the day will be between Busayo Olatunji and Auta Rebecca at 6:00 pm just as Blessing Isaac takes on Adesola Olatunji in the last Pool B game.
Day two of the tournament have Abdulazeez Rofiat against and Mistura Durosinlorun in Pool A while Delight Allison takes to the court against Veronica Sunday. Pool B games will be between Busayo Olatunji and Adesola Olatunji while Blessing Isaac and Auta Rebecca round up games for the day.
The last games of the group comes up on Thursday as Abdulazeez Rofiat squares up against Delight Allison and Mistura Durosinlorun takes on Veronica Sunday in Pool A while Busayo Olatunji takes on Blessing Isaac and Adesola Olatunji battles it out with Auta Rebecca in Pool B to determine places for the Semi-Finals on Friday.
The top game of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday with a wild card slot to the Abbas Family Squash Tournament in Maryland, USA at stake.
The inaugural Nigeria Top 8 Female Invitational Squash Tournament is sponsored by Solar Power Etal Spectrums in conjunction with the African Diaspora Squash Association based in the USA.
Akinlolu Ajayi-Obe, CEO of Solar Power Etal Spectrums in a chat with peaknews.ng stated that the tournament is geared towards giving female players a chance to exhibit their skills in the game of squash.
Oyo State Technical Director, Niyi Oyewumi, who is excited about the tournament and is monitoring the event from his base in the United Kingdom recalleds that the last time a ticket to an international squash tournament was put on the line was back in 1988 at the Vinman Squash Tournament held in Kano in which Wasiu Sanni claimed the star prize.
