Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been given an August 7 deadline to secure his departure from the club following a deadlock in his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Napoli’s head coach Antonio Conte expects Romelu Lukaku, his preferred striker, to return from Chelsea, with an agreement already reached between the London side and Napoli for the Belgian forward.
According to information obtained by peaknews.ng, Coach Conte is prepared to adhere to Napoli’s decision to allow Osimhen to leave by the specified date, as reported by OwnGoalNigeria.com.
With negotiations with PSG at a standstill, Napoli has proposed a swap deal, offering Osimhen to Chelsea on loan in exchange for Lukaku.
Osimhen’s agent is currently in discussions with Chelsea, while Lukaku is training alone, awaiting Coach Conte’s signal for his August 7 resumption. A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday indicated that a three-year deal has been agreed upon with Lukaku.
Additionally, a member of Lukaku’s staff has already departed for Naples to finalize arrangements for the striker’s arrival once Osimhen exits.
Chelsea, keen to offload Lukaku, have made him available for transfer but have yet to find a club willing to meet their £37 million asking price.
Napoli remains the most interested party in securing the Belgian striker, potentially reuniting him with former coach Antonio Conte. The duo previously led Inter Milan to Serie A victory in 2021, and Conte has made Lukaku his top target, contingent on Osimhen’s departure from the club.
