I’m not at loggerheads with Abure- Lagos LP Chair

The Lagos State Chairperson of the Labour Party (LP), Pastor Dayo Ekong, says she is not at loggerheads with the National Chairman of the party, Mr Julius Abure.

Ekong, in a statement on Saturday in Lagos, said that clarification became imperative following a social media report of a power tussle with Abure.

Debunking the social media report of her challenging the authority of Abure and describing it as fake news, Ekong said that the report was a figment of the writer’s imagination and thoughts.

“It has come to my attention that a recent article authored by a certain faceless and unknown blogger has falsely claimed that Dayo Ekong, the Labour Party Chairperson, Lagos State, is at loggerheads with the national chairman.

“I categorically state that these allegations are entirely baseless and are nothing more than fabrications by opposition elements aiming to sow discord within the Labour Party.

“I have always maintained a cordial and cooperative relationship with Mr Julius Abure.

“Our mutual goal has been and continues to be the progress and unity of the Labour Party,” she said.

Ekong said that any claim suggesting otherwise was an outright lie intended to mislead the public and disrupt the harmonious workings in the party.

She urged party members and supporters to disregard “these unfounded allegations and remain focused on our collective mission”.

According to her, it is evident that the allegation is a strategic ploy by those who feel threatened by the growing strength and influence of the Labour Party.

The LP chairperson said that the purveyors are seeking to mislead the innocent ones who want a better society.

She said: “We must remain focused at this crucial times and not be distracted by petty and mischievous elements who have no role to play in nation building.

“Let us remain united and steadfast in our commitment to the ideals and principles that our party stands for.

“Together, we will overcome any attempts to destabilise our unity and continue to work towards a better future for all,” she said. (NAN)
