Gunmen kill 2 travellers, kidnap 5 in Ondo

The Police Command in Ondo State has confirmed the killing of two travellers and kidnapping of five others by gunmen on Ifon/Owo Road in Ose Local Government area of the state.

The Spokesperson for the Police in the state, SP Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanyan, said the command was yet to ascertain the exact number of passengers in the attacked vehicle.

She added that policemen had been deployed, combing the area to ensure that the kidnapped victims were rescued.

A man, who did not want his name mentioned in the community, said that the vehicle was coming from the South-Eastern part of the country with the passengers heading to Owo axis on Friday night when the incident happened.

He said that driver of the attacked commercial vehicle and a female passenger were shot dead at the scene of the incident, while some passengers were whisked away.

It was learnt that some passengers of the vehicle escaped with various degrees of injuries. (NAN)
