Daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia Killed in Lagos Residence

LAGOS, July 31, 2024 – Tragedy struck on Wednesday morning when Aribemchukwu, the daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, was found dead outside her Parkview Estate residence in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

The deceased, affectionately known as Chuchu, was discovered outside the gate of her home, sparking a murder investigation. A family source, speaking under the condition of anonymity, disclosed that Aribemchukwu was killed the previous night.

“It appears that new household staff might have been responsible and tried to stage the scene to look like she was outside when it happened,” the source said. “There are signs of an attempt to clean up blood inside the house and in the compound. This was indeed their handiwork, and we observed that they were newly employed less than a month ago. She was alone in the house with them.”

Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, told PUNCH Online that the body had been recovered and three suspects had been arrested in connection to the murder.

“Our men have arrested three people in connection to the murder of the daughter of Justice Ajumogobia at her residence in Parkview Estate. One of them is a driver, and the other two are maids,” Hundeyin said. “We are investigating and will further inform the public on our outcome.”

Aribemchukwu, who was a doctor, had recently married before her untimely death. The investigation is ongoing as the family and the community grapple with the shocking loss.
