In a significant development within the Democratic Party, former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.Obama, 62, engaged in a publicly known call with Harris on Sunday, during which he praised her for her “vision, character, and strength” at this critical juncture in the nation’s history.
“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris,” Obama announced on X Friday. “We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us.”
Other prominent Democrats have swiftly followed suit in endorsing Harris. President Joe Biden endorsed her immediately after announcing his withdrawal from the 2024 race on July 21.
Additionally, top Democrats such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) have all given Harris their official endorsement.
