Lagos, Nigeria – Controversial rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has taken aim at Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, in his latest single, “Emilokan.”
The song, released earlier this week, features sharp criticism of the prominent clergyman, accusing him of hypocrisy.
In a provocative verse, Abdulkareem points out that Pastor Adeboye was vocal in his opposition to bad governance during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. However, the rapper claims that under President Tinubu, Adeboye attributes Nigeria’s issues to “spiritual problems” rather than addressing the current government’s shortcomings.
“Where our daddy, Pastor Adeboye? During Goodluck Jonathan’s regime, your voice was so loud. You even vowed to stage a one-million-man march. Hunger and hardship under Tinubu government, you say Nigeria get spiritual problems,” Abdulkareem raps.
The veteran musician calls on Pastor Adeboye to organize a large-scale protest against President Tinubu’s government, mirroring the actions he took during Jonathan’s presidency. Abdulkareem questions the consistency of the clergyman’s stance and urges him to hold the current administration accountable.
“Baba, we need your one million disciples to protest against President Tinubu government just the way you protested against President Jonathan. Daddy, abi legs don dey pain your disciples? In fact, this na very big hypocrisy. It’s time for you to speak the truth to power because hunger wan kill Nigerians.”
The song has sparked widespread discussion and controversy, with supporters praising Abdulkareem’s boldness and critics accusing him of disrespecting a respected religious leader. As public reactions continue to unfold, the track has garnered significant attention on social media and in the music community.
Pastor Adeboye has yet to respond to the accusations made in Abdulkareem’s single. The debate highlights the intersection of religion, politics, and activism in Nigeria, raising questions about the role of religious leaders in addressing societal issues.
