No hope in sight for abducted Lebanese in Lagos

Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the Managing Director of Fouani Company and three other Lebanese nationals remain in captivity after being abducted by gunmen.

The incident occurred on Friday when the MD of Fouani Company, along with brothers Abbas, Youssef, and Amtal Fouani, were kidnapped while traveling by boat in Lagos. The victims, who are all employees of Fouani Nigeria Ltd, were seized around 6 p.m. under Folomo Bridge.

Fouani Nigeria Ltd is known for specializing in electronics and serves as the sole distributor of LG, Hisense, and Maxi products in Nigeria.

The abductors have since contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of $1.5 million. However, according to a police officer, there has been no further communication from the kidnappers since the initial contact. “As it stands, there is no hope in sight as the kidnappers have not reached out again since yesterday,” the officer told Saturday Sun.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundyin, confirmed the situation, stating, “Yes, there is no contact yet, but we are on top of the situation.” The police continue their efforts to secure the safe release of the captives.
