Members of the foremost sailing club in Nigeria, Navy Sailing Club led by the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Captain Festus Adewuyi on Saturday paid a condolence visit to Oba Taofeek Akeju, the Oba of Imore and Apapa Kingdom over the death of his queen who passed on recently.
Also on the delegation were former Club Commodores, Citizen Giwa Daramola and Commodore Mutairu Braimah as well as former Rear Commodore, MWO Hilary Egwue (Rtd). Others on the entourage were Barrister Moses Obairo, Fidelis Ehimate, and Seun Access Bank.
Captain Adewuyi in his condolence message to the Oba, noted that the passing of a partner is painful but said that death is unavoidable to mankind while praying for the repose of her soul. “As a Club, we feel your pain and that is why we’re here to commiserate with you. We pray that such won’t occur in your family again until old age when God decides to call us back.”
He urged the Oba to remain strong noting that the Club is behind him hence the condolence visit.
Citizen Giwa Daramola on his part prayed that God give the Oba and his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss while the Commodore Braimah, who is the Commander, NNS Wey said he was at the palace in the capacity of his office and as a member of the Club.
Oba Akeju, who is also a dedicated member of the Club in his remarks thanked the leadership of the Club for the visit and stated that their action shows the brotherly love that is between members. “I’m appreciative of this visit to me and the people of Imore and Apapa Kingdom. It’s not easy to know that your partner of many years is no more but I am encouraged by the love and care from members of the Navy Sailing Club. This visit shows that we care for each other. On behalf of my family, I thank you for coming.
The 8th day prayers for the late Olori Akeju comes up on 4th July, 2024 at the Oba’s palace.
