Lagos, June 18, 2024 – The Lagos State Police Command has successfully rescued the three Fouani brothers who were abducted last week. The brothers, identified as Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani, and Amtal Fouani, were kidnapped on June 14 around 6 pm while returning from their factory by boat.
Fouani Nigeria Ltd, the company owned by the family, specializes in electronics and is the sole distributor of LG, Hisense, and Maxi products in Nigeria. The abduction of the three brothers occurred as they were traveling by boat, raising immediate concerns and prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
On Monday, the police reported that they were working “tirelessly” to ensure the safe release of the victims. Peaknews Online confirmed that the brothers, along with their boat driver and his assistant, were freed on Monday night in Orugbo Iddo.
The release of the victims was confirmed by Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin via a WhatsApp chat. Hundeyin credited the successful rescue to the combined efforts of the Lagos Marine Police and the Nigerian Navy.
“They were rescued late last night in Orugbo Iddo. Our marine police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy, brought them to shore,” Hundeyin said. “Thereafter, our tactical team in the area took them home to Banana Island in the early hours of today.”
The rescued individuals include the three Lebanese brothers, the boat captain, and his assistant. They have since been safely returned to their residence.
This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Lagos and the efforts of the police and navy to ensure the safety of residents and businesses in the region.
