Dangote Group Clarifies Minor Fire Incident at New Refinery

Lagos, Nigeria — The Dangote Group has addressed reports of a fire outbreak at its new refinery, describing the event as a “minor incident” that has been swiftly contained. No injuries to staff were reported.

Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding & Communications Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, issued a press statement explaining that the fire occurred at the effluent treatment plant (ETP), where liquid waste is treated.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP) today, Wednesday 26th of June,” the statement read. “There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating, and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty.”

The Dangote Group emphasized that the refinery remains fully operational and reassured the public that safety protocols were effectively implemented to handle the situation without disruption.
