In a tragic incident early Saturday morning, Brigadier General Harold Udokwere a retired Nigerian Army officer attacked and killed by suspected armed men at his residence in Abuja, Peaknews online can authoritatively report.
The attack it was learnt, occurred around 3 a.m. at his home located at No. 1 Sanga Street, Sunshine Homes, near Kabusa Junction in Lokogoma area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Witnesses said the assailants broke into General Udokwere’s home, demanding jewelry, money, and other valuables. Despite complying, the General was shot during the robbery. Additionally, one of the neighborhood guards sustained injuries in the attack. Udokwere was rushed to the National Hospital Abuja, where he was later pronounced dead.
The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, has responded to the incident by ordering a comprehensive investigation. In a statement released by SP Josephine Adeh, the police command’s spokesperson, the attack was confirmed, and the death of Brigadier General Udokwere was noted as occurring around 3 a.m. on June 22, 2024.
“Expressing profound condolences to the bereaved family, CP Benneth Igweh assured the family and the public of swift justice, with every effort in conduit to ensure the perpetrators of the atrocious act are apprehended and brought to justice,” Adeh stated.
The commissioner also reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to enhancing security measures in Abuja. “The commissioner of police reaffirms the unflinching commitment of the command to amplify the security landscape of the nation’s capital, by continually adapting strategies to effectively combat evolving criminal activities,” Adeh added.
