Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi, former CDS dies

 

Abuja – Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi, a former Chief of Defence Staff, has died after a brief illness. Family sources reported that he had been battling an age-related illness for several weeks before passing away in his Abuja home in the early hours of Sunday.

A family member stated, “Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi passed on to glory a few minutes ago, early Sunday morning.”

Admiral Ogohi served as Chief of Defence Staff from 1999 to 2003 and was the first Naval officer in the Nigerian military to achieve a four-star rank. He was also the first Chief of Defence Staff from the Navy.

The late Admiral hailed from Okura, Lafia in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. His contributions to the Nigerian military and his pioneering achievements in the Navy will be remembered.
